Have you ever looked at someone successful and thought what is their secret, I could easily do what they do? I think we all have in some way or another. Sometimes people get lucky, most of the time they have worked really hard for a long time to get where they are. The thing that is usually the clear difference between successful people and 'the rest of us' is not talent, it's being opportunistic.

Most people I know are extremely talented in some way, awe inspiring, unbelievably talented. Yet, as Nero said hidden talent counts for nothing. If you want to be successful you need to create and take opportunities. You can work as hard as you can for as long as you can, but if you don't put yourself out into the world, you won't get very far.

What do opportunities look like? They don't exclusively occur when some hotshot agent hands you their business card after sniffing the talent on you as they pass by in the street. No, opportunities don't often look like opportunities. Opportunities to be seen and heard are everywhere. Social media is making this almost effortless. Market yourself, be seen, a lot. Show your best and your worst, engage with others. Talk to your friends, colleagues and acquaintances about your passions and talents. When someone says "Hey, I know a guy who could help" take the number and make the call (that's the opportunity).

Opportunity breeds opportunity. Feeling inspired? Also an opportunity.

So take it, right now. I'll wait right here.
